Christian realms falling apart?

Is there any way to stop large Christian countries from falling apart while their muslim counterparts are staying strong and unified?

In almost every game countries like Germany,Byzantine,France and England end up falling apart while the Seljuks,Fatimids and other muslim kingdoms just grow larger.

Set your AI aggressiveness to low values. This won't fully prevent it, but at least make the AI a little less suicidal.

My last game the AI was set to coward and yet in 1068 Germany was torn apart,almost all their vasals rebelled, same thing with Byzantine.

My last game the AI was set to coward and yet in 1068 Germany was torn apart,almost all their vasals rebelled, same thing with Byzantine.

The reason for that is because both Germany and Byzantium starting position is very troublesome. The German king has several rivals, one of which is the Papal Controller, which often leads to his excommunication.

The Byzantine Empire starts at war with the Seljuks and the emperor and his son and heir have lousy stats.

In general Catholic realms can get in to trouble more often because their rulers can become excommunicated. While Muslims, Pagans and Orthodox can't.
