Overall I don't think the border areas will pose much of a threat to game balance or historiocity (I'm still not sure that's a word). They are fairly limited in size, especially compared to EU. There shouldn't be any uber-dynasties forming from conquering border territories except for the ones (Spain) that historically should

Not really true... Denmark conquered the Vends (think EU west and half of east Pommerania) and Estonia, while Sweden subdued the Finns and waged war on the Karelians. Northern German princes entered the same area as Denmark on the southern Baltic shores, and the German Emperor sponsored the TO in the area more than the church...Originally posted by pavlovs_dog
