I'm curious how China games are going for others, especially concerning the warlords. I think too many nations have the ability to subjugate the warlords at the same time without modifiers if they are already subjugated. Before reading the rest, my recommendations is for the focuses that focus on subjugating the warlords that they would be blocked if someone else has puppeted the warlords.
In my current non-historical Manchukuo game, I was released by a democratic Japan. After gaining my freedom I offered warlords vassalization, and all of them accepted except one. I then declared war on China with my new puppet minions. In the middle of the war China also takes its focus to subjugate the warlords, and suddenly they are all puppets of China. This created a strategic mess for me, I had troops all over the place in now hostile areas, out-of-supply, and I still had all of my vassals' divisions (given by requesting forces) which gradually ran out of supply. The warlords I had subjugated had flipped to Fascist when I puppeted them, but flipped back to Non-Aligned when China puppeted them, creating new nations. It was a tag-flipping mess.
I really like this patch. I think the non-historical options have definitely left for a more interesting game. But every time I look at China and see two Communist Chinas or warlords flipping back and forth I'm just left wondering "what on earth is going on in China."
