I always intended this, from the very moment that I thought of it while on a cruise in Alaska, to be a bit more than a pure gameplay AAR (Rise of Red China), but not quite as detached as a history book AAR (Story of the Calcutta Rebellion), and instead to be a bit more like... well I don't really know what to call it, but I'm glad that you like it!germanpeon said:Oh, thats just gorgeous. Finally united! I absolutely LOVE the themes of nation-building and modernization that youve so thoroughly ingrained into the AAR. Very nice.![]()
Yes, one of the major things I learned from Rise of Red China was that doing something plausible is a whole lot more entertaining than conquering everything in sight.PrawnStar said:Good work on the unification!
It's nice to see an AAR where someone goes and does something plausible.
Now for the next bit - how long will a navy take to research and build?
Yeah, I don't really have the research slots for tanks...wilegfass said:Cavalry? Heard of those new things called tanks which are not only cooler, but much stronger than horses? I guess you have to cut back somewhere if you want a navy...
Oh, I forgot to mention that. It measures soft attack.germanpeon said:What does the left axis of the graph measure? BWA?
I'd say I could take on the US around 1950, or a smaller naval power (Japan or UK) withing 3-5 years. Anyone else will cower before the PLAN (for those who missed it earlier: People's Liberation Army-Navy) by '46 (this includes Germany, USSR, or any coastal minor).grayghost said:Now that all of china is under your control, how long before the seas become a big chinese pond?
Yes, I will be having Carriers screened by Light Cruisers. That's right, only now the real thing will start
will you focus on carrier vessel's fleets?
Of course the USSR will cower before the PLAN - especially if it's a five year oneOriginally Posted by Rodrico Stak

I actually can't offer an alliance to the Soviets because Korea is in my alliance. Even if I dissolve the alliance, the Soviet AI is programmed not to ally with Communist China, as it was in real life, where the Soviets and the PRC didn't necessarily see eye-to-eye on everything.ikki said:You havent considered a soviet alliance yet?
You would get nice land army techs.. boost them with the research and manufactury stuff... and feel invincible with this possibly strongest of nations.
Besides, allies dont do surprise attacks![]()
Yes, fighting the British will be a very important goal once the navy is done.Oh and any plans to liberate the Indians from the exploiting imperialstic opium peddling barbarian English?
The resulting alliance group... S.I.C.K. (Soviet, India, China, Korea)![]()
Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that. The Japanese, having been beaten by me in the Sino-Japanese war, will not declare war on the US. The US, therefore, has stayed neutral so far, and I predict will stay neutral unless I do something about it.Besides, the english military is always weak in hoi.. Ofcourse then theres the risk the americans will show up. Now that would be bad.![]()
Odds are that they will be independent before I feel my navy is strong enough to fight the Allies. So yes, an invasion of India isn't too unlikely.Or just wait for their independence.. and then hit them with innumerable diplomatic visits. Too bad you cannot fill a unformed nation with spies waiting for such a day.
This is true. Vichy still controls Indochina, having never ceded it to Japan. I'm not afraid of war with Germany, as they can't do anything to me, so this is always an option.Oh yes.. and you really must have the indochinese to "tremble and oney" once more.. they can send their rulers to kowtow to the dragonthrone.. just like in the good old days.
Now that should be fairly riskfree..
The Portuguese have a 50% chance to accept my demands of Macao. Unfortunately, Hong Kong will have to wait until war with the UK.Ps: you arent going to suffer macao or hong kong in the hands of imperialists, right?
They did have a military alliance though.the Soviets and the PRC didn't necessarily see eye-to-eye on everything.
It probably isnt that bad. It looks like the tech teams are specialized enough to be effective in that their components match those of the techs that he needs to research. The skill levels are low, though.Romanius said:Researching must be painful with such unskilled techteams.
