Most likely the best AAR on this site period. Hopefully my Australia AAR will become somewhat less boring once the war starts.

Why don't you change the ingame flag to modern PRC flag?

Also, what is your current IC compared to other major powers?
I did change the ingame flag, however I only remembered to do it a while after "Proclaiming the PRC" happened. :( You will see the modern flag, though.

My current IC is somewhere around the UK's IC (I think), however I have somewhere around 200 usable IC once China is united.

Oh, and expect an update sometime tomorrow.

A Chinese Naval AAR

china-flag.gif

Operation Warlord's End: Part 3

The squadron of Scout Fighters was sent to investigate the state of the Nationalists on Taiwan:

ScreenSave493.jpg

On November 28, Lieutenant General Ma Benzhai's force of 3 mountaineers suffered a defeat against the inferior but numerous forces of Sinkiang in the Korla Desert. Ma Benzhai swore to avenge this defeat, famously stating "I Shall Return" during the retreat. (note: Japan never declared war on the US, so MacArthur never go to say it)

ScreenSave494.jpg

2 days later, the Soviet Naval Mission began theoretical research on how to effectively use the Aircraft Carriers that the Ship Product Design Branch was developing, based upon observations of Japanese ships made by the Koreans.

ScreenSave495.jpg

On the 13th of December, Shipbuilding Industry Management got into the naval armament business, developing a prototype design for light cruisers with which to screen the Air Carriers, basing the design, once again, on old blueprints captured from the Japanese by the Koreans.

ScreenSave496.jpg

That same day, a new flag was adopted by the PRC, to reflect that it was no longer simply a military Chinese minor state, but the true and legitimate government of China.

ScreenSave497.jpg

The next day, as Yunnan continued to be dismantled by the PLA, Japan declared war on the Taiwanese. Chief of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), Fang Zeyi, commented on the situation, declaring that with the inteligence gathered by the PLAAF, it was obvious that the Japanese could not possibly make a successful seaborne invasion of the island.

ScreenSave498.jpg

On the 24th of December, 1942, General Zhu De, Chief of Staff and the PLA, who had been sent to Sinkiang to aid Lieutenant General Ma Benzhai, reported successes in defeating the Sinkiangese, and began closing in on the capital of Urumqi.

ScreenSave500.jpg

On the 7th of January, 1943, the PRC annexed Yunnan, second to last of the Warlord States. Once Sinkiang fell, operation Warlord's End would come to a successful conclusion.

annex tibet, build up a kickass navy and then annex Japan. Repay their previous kindness in Nanking with the Tokyo massacre while you're at it.

Taiwan is a perfect example of where strategic bombers would come in handy. Bomb their IC and resource production to zero and keep it that way, and within maybe six months they'd have no troops left (they won't have a massive supply stockpile because their stockpiles were all captured in the war, and besides, the AI never really stockpiles too many supplies anyway), making for an easy invasion.

Of course, both a) you're not at war with them, and b) have no strategic bombers; are true, thus making it a moot point.

With the size of the area (one area, three provinces) a couple tactical bombers could do the same job.

One or two quick things

Sinkiang is actually called Xinjiang in pinyin (It literally means "new frontier" and is an inalienable part of china in much the same way as Tibet) and the people there are central asian muslims called the uighur people. They don't speak chinese, look middle eastern, and like all of china's ethnic minorities hate the majority Han with good reason. They're also a soviet puppet at this point but for some reason the game never really models it. (The soviets pulled out in exchange for Chiang Kai Shek not asking for Mongolia back after WW2 ended.)

You should give on eof your researchers a carrier training doctrine once the mighty PLAN kills a couple ships. It strikes me as silly that a navy that was built from nothing to consist solely of carriers wouldn't have a researcher that specialized in their use. This is one of those things which I think the game could model better, with the doctrines you can research based on the actual composition of your forces.

How many IC do they have in the first place? I somehow doubt that they have enough to support their huge army.

(The soviets pulled out in exchange for Chiang Kai Shek not asking for Mongolia back after WW2 ended.)
Actually I was pretty sure that there was some kind of policy reversal in Xinjiang in 1942 which forced the Soviets to leave, but also there was then a communist-friendly muslim separatist movement in north-west of the province, supported by the Soviets as well.

Yunnan down, Sinkiang soon to follow. What of Tibet. Will you leave it alone for awhile, or bring it into the fold. Nice watching the developement of the Navy. Soon mighty Chinese fleets will roam the worlds oceans.

No, its still alive. Its just been that real life has gotten in the way (damn Tourism Lobbying Board changing the Plano ISD schedule... for some reason, they didn't like that Plano's school schedule differed from the rest of the state (we began 1 month earlier, ended 1 month earlier, had fall break, and our semesters were separated by winter break)). Anyway, because of that I had final exams last week and haven't really been able to get time to update this.

It's good to know its not dead, although interference from the real world is always a nuisance. Good luck with your conquest of the world's oceans :D .

A Chinese Naval AAR

Operation Warlord's End: Part 4

On January 8, 1943, the PLA opened a new, more mobile branch of the military - the cavalry. This elite force was planned to be equipped with heavy artillery to create a mobile and effective fighting force.

ScreenSave502.jpg

3 days later, General Zhu De lead a victorious assault on Urumqi, which Lieutenant General Ma Benzhai participated in. The three divisions lead by him were allowed to enter the city first, to commemorate their heroic efforts against the Xinjiangese.

ScreenSave504.jpg

On the 20th of January, Li Kennong produced a superior decryption method. The Central Military Commission (hereafter referred to as the CMC) began developing improved infantry equipment and divisional organization with the funding freed up by the completion of Li's project.

ScreenSave505.jpg

Finally, on February the fifth, 1943, Sinkiang (Xinjiang), was annexed into the PRC.

ScreenSave505.jpg

The only remaining warlord was Tibet, but the leadership of the PRC felt that more diplomatic means could be used to unite Tibet with the rest of China, being, as it is, an integral and inseparable part of China, which should never, under any circumstances, have been an autonomous nation.

... or so is the PRC's official stance on the matter.

That aside, the government began a public works project to improve the transportation systems of the densely populated coast of China, now that the PRC was at peace for the first time in many years.

ScreenSave508.jpg

On the 20th, Lin Pao finalized his work on the tactical development of large formation operations. The PLA itself then continued his work by conducting war games designed to increase the priority placed on achieving breakthroughs through the enemy lines.

ScreenSave509.jpg

The same day, Chairman Mao, in his infinite wisdom, appointed Zhou Xing to the position of Minister of Security.

ScreenSave510.jpg

The Ship Product Design Branch finished analyzing the Korean blueprints of outdated Japanese air carrier models, and began developing a more modern version, even though blueprints from Korea were still en-route and not due to arrive for some time.

ScreenSave511.jpg

On the 26th, Tibet was diplomatically, and peacefully, annexed into the PRC (via a CCIP event). China was finally united under one flag, after 32 years of strife following the 1911 revolution.

Good work on the unification!

It's nice to see an AAR where someone goes and does something plausible.

Now for the next bit - how long will a navy take to research and build?
