Operation Warlord's End: Part 2
On October 16, the Guangxi warlords became officially part of the People's Republic of China.
As more factories came online, the PLA used them to recruit a new mobile division of the PLA - the cavalry.
On November 2, Yunan became the next target for the PLA's offensive. Due to its remote nature, Yunan would take a long time to occupy, for little actual gain than taking another piece of China away from warlord tyranny. A ferocious battle for Kunming ensued, during which the Yunanese warlords were soundly defeated.
Meanwhile, the small taskforce assigned to subduing the Ma clique succeeded in its mission. Xeibei San Ma was officially brought into the PRC on November 7, 1942.
Three divisions of mountaineers under Lieutenant General Ma Benzhai were sent to subdue Sinkiang.
With the (now dissolved) General Armament Department having completed its research into Improved Field Artillery, many new teams were available to work on the next project.
The Ship Product Design Branch was assigned to create a design for a ship capable of carrying a wing of aircraft. Though the design was never planned to be used, as it was based upon a Japanese carrier design (that the Koreans had gained information about) from 1918, it was still an important first step to developing the carriers that would lead the PLAN to domination of the high seas.
