China problems

I had an issue with a China game and I'm trying to determine whether I can still get an achievement (and how, if so).

So as China, I had pushed Japan all the way back to Korea and was advancing down the peninsula when one of the warlords was able to become the "real" China, causing me to turn into the "CC Clique". I had enough spare divisions to beat that warlord (now "China") and they were near capitulation when there was the pop-up that China and Japan have signed a white peace. This ended my war with Japan and left me in control of Manchuria and all of that warlord-turned-China's territory, with Korea independent, and Taiwan under the control of "China", and "China" in Japan's faction. The achievement for forcing a Japanese surrender did not fire, and I was stuck with "Illegitimate Government".

My questions are:
1. If I capitulate "China" and annex Taiwan, does that make me China again? If not, is there a way I can do that?
2. If I capitulate Japan at this point by renewing the war, and annex/puppet them, does that give me Awake and Angry, or am I locked out of it on this save?
3. If I re-integrate the two southern warlords while still the "CC Clique", do I get "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", or do I have to be called China again first?

Disclaimer: I don't have WTT, so these answers are only based on theory from the game files.

1. If I capitulate "China" and annex Taiwan, does that make me China again? If not, is there a way I can do that?

Far as I can tell, yes. China being a puppet is what stops you from taking over leadership.

2. If I capitulate Japan at this point by renewing the war, and annex/puppet them, does that give me Awake and Angry, or am I locked out of it on this save?

You can only get the achievement by Japan selecting the white peace decision but that should still be possible. Problem is you'd have to beat Japan twice; once to annex their puppet China and then once more to make them pick the white peace decision.

3. If I re-integrate the two southern warlords while still the "CC Clique", do I get "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", or do I have to be called China again first?

For this achievement you just need to start as Nationalist China and integrate the two warlords. It is not related to the Chinese leadership mechanic.

1. All you need to do is annex the current warlord in charge of China to become China again.
2. As long as you OWN all of your core territory except for Hong Kong, Guangzhouwan, and Macau, you will get the achievement. You don't need to re-capitulate Japan.
3. You don't have to be called China again, but I imagine it's going to be quite hard to get the achievement at this point.

I was able to get Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Japan is at war with the British Axis (monarchist non-historical), so I may be able to beat them.

Better colour as the CC Clique anyway and thats all that really matters.
