Yeah, this is somewhat intended. I don't remember the reasoning for doing it this way (dates back, lots of drugs and cannibalism since then, my memory is fuzzy), but I agree it does look a bit weird at times. We'll see if we can't rework the system a bit, but I can't guarantee anything. Maybe for upcoming patch, maybe later, maybe never. But we'll talk about it.

Is there actually somewhere you can check who is the Head of a house? Because I never knew that o_0

Click a dynasty Coat of Arms to bring up the Dynasty Tree. Right of the prestige score and left of the buttons "Filter>" and the flag button, you have a silhouette button : "Go to head of dynasty"
