I keep getting an event which says : Your child's abbilities have declined significantly.

I really hate that event, so I want to remove it.
Can that be done, and how ?
And what is the actual reason for such an event?

The reason is that 10 in a stat was supposed to be considered very good, but in practice players always seem to end up with much higher stats, which trivialises certain aspects of the game.
I believe this particular event is a part of the DVIP mod, but I've never encountered it myself and I don't know how to disable it.

Thank you. I like the event, but I get it way too often for my taste. I changed mine to 56 (like you mentioned) and I'll run my game for a bit to see if I like it better.

(An aside to Jordarkelf). I'm guessing this isn't possible, when this event fires and I get a notification, for me to open up the child in question's screen, to see what their stats were before the event takes effect (like I can do for normal DV stat events). For some of my important characters, I'd like to see how much they actually lose to these events, but once the event fires and I get the pop-up, the event has already taken effect.

The next update for DVIP (released whenever I can) will change these events so they should be a little less annoying. I will under no circumstance remove them though, they are needed to restore game balance. I consider CK-DV absolutely broken when it comes to stat gain and this event series (based on one by Wiz) is a best effort to fix it.
That the event seems to fire all the time only indicates how bad the problem is... and alas CK-DV doesn't allow for "invisible" events.

If you just want to get a chance to compare stats, edit the events to change the 'immidiate' action to 'action_a': immidiate means the event has taken effect as you see it, whereas action_a only works when the button is clicked.

I know I wasn't being clear enough, but that right there is what I was looking for. Thank you :)

It's still possible to get children with high abilities even with these events; my ruler's son has stats ranging between 7 and 14, at the end of his education, which is plenty to make him a competent king, even if not quite as superhuman as he would have been otherwise.

You do of course have a much higher chance of ending up with a ruler with terrible abilities, which in my opinion makes the game more interesting.

I don't know if the events affect the AI in the same way as the player; I would assume they do, though I have seen characters in the AIs' courts with abilities of 20 or higher.

Is there a way to mod the event so it does not create a pop-up at all? I don't mind my children's abilities decreasing, but all the extra pop-ups can be annoying.

The AI gets the same event.
It is not possible to make it a hidden event, everything done by the event engine must work as a popup :(

I am testing a different approach to it now though that should both severely reduce the spam, and be less immersion breaking. Hopefully it'll work out well in the long run and if so I'll add it to the next update (WIR).
