Treaty of Nicaea
Recognising that the necromantic threat to the lawful affairs of Christendom takes precedence over local conflicts,
desiring peace within the domains of the True Faith,
asserting their unity in the face of the savage infidel, and
placing their fate in the care of the Lord of Hosts, Whose hand is outstretched over those who do battle in his cause,
the sovereign Imperium Romaion and the Commonwealth of Croatia do hereby agree to the following:
- That neither party shall attack the other, nor their allies or vassals, nor rebels against their rule except to aid in restoring order.
- Those Komnenoi who have become vassals of the King of Croatia, or who may from time to time lawfully become so in the future, shall be confirmed in their domains, and not removed from their posts. If however any such Komnenos shall die, and his heir be a vassal of the Roman Emperor, then his lands shall be returned to the Croatian crown, to be placed under the stewardship of a Komnenos scion sworn to that realm.
- In similar wise, if any other land should by inheritance come under the rule of the Croatian King, or of the Roman Emperor, that previously was held of the other party, it shall be returned; although without the requirement that it return to the same family that previously held it.
This peace and treaty shall last until 1399, at which time Christ will return and the world will end, and all temporal obligation with it; and therefore it were impious to make treaties lasting further than this year.
Signed by the Roman Emperor.
