While it would be neat, how exactly would a DLC focussed on this be marketed?

"Download pictures of children in thousands of combinations!"

... not going to happen. It raises too many issues and is a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

I thought it was a joke until the last paragraph. That's stupid.

I do not like this idea.

it would take quite awhile to make a portrait for every stage of child hood (and for every culture)

i would rather them work on adults

I don't think any sane person wants portraits for every stage of childhood. The age they currently appear to be is perfectly fine. Instead, I just want for some variety in the childhood pictures. Give me 3 variants per appearance, which at the moment is like 4. We've got our Mongols, our Europeans, Arabs, and Africans. 3 per gender per ethnicity gives us 24 pictures, and we've already got 8 of them so 16 would do (although I'd prefer 24 new ones). I don't think that's an unreasonable art request, especially considering there's been a decent amount of people saying they'd buy such a DLC in the thread. Not like we want it for free.

Just let them whine
Why can't these people read posts above, there was whole page of posts stating that it isn't necessary to create several childhood stages, but i think that's what goes on in their minds:

"Oh, there is new thread (Reads a few words)
Now how can i oppose the idea? i need to come up with something certainly, i really need to post something in this very thread..
Ah, children change fast, as they grow, so there will be too much work if they make this kind of DLC trying to resemble most of these stages of childhood, it's waste of time, but there are lots of posts about this, they say just one childhood state around 8-10 years is completely sufficient, and there are lots of posts about it and maybe this even passed in my own mind and actually makes very good sense, the point and main idea of DLC is different, but anyway, I have to post something so i will...
Posts...(which would be better to be stated and whining)"

And the guy concerned about marketing campaign of the DLC, sounds quite reasonable i think(feel the damn irony), he really needed to post that, not thinking about previous graphical DLC-s and their names.

This would be neat, though I'd prefer more variety in the adult ones first. I'm not opposing the idea of, instead of one portrait per group get 3 or 4 (like the guy above said). Also, apart from that, changing the hair and eye color to different varieties should be the easiest thing to implement.

But, I'd prefer if they packed this together with a big portraits DLC for adults. I want more variety! Make different combinations depending of the parents, like people say above make an ugly person have ugly tratis and an attractive person have attractive traits (this could be the size of the eyes, of the nose, ears, assimetry, imperfections in the face whatever), but more variety! I would love that.

EDIT: but with this I'm not saying: take time from improving actual aspects of the game into this. Not at all! I mean, keep the good work on the gameplay and keep giving us new content, but also calmly keep some portrait DLC going without dedicating to it too many resources. :p

Sure children's portraits would be a nice add, but...

1.) There are so many more gameplay adds I would prefer over this. I for one would like to see a town/mayor expansion and/or bishopric expansion.
2.) If we are talking immersion, children were treated as chattel (i.e. essentially interchangeable) in many ways during the period especially considering the life expectancy of them.
3.) Speaking of life expectancy; if I am going to plot to kill a wee one, i don't want to know the color of their eyes. :D

Just my 2 cents.

Ok, this is just silly.

Portrait packs are the work of artists, not writers or coders. Johan emphatically made the same point with Sunset Invasion. That was the work of Writers and Artists, with a bit of event scripting. Zero fundamental programming involved, so it didn't take away from any of the serious DLCs that would add to the core game. If anything, it gave the next one more time to stew since Johan has said it should be a big one.

To oppose something because you'd like Y instead of X is fine, but only when the two items would require labor from the same area.

I would much rather that they focus on adults, I don't do anything with kids except betroth and educate so I ain't fussed.

Adults I would much prefer having a large number of options, fat faces, ugly faces, etc.
