Because I scroll down in lists to find the easily noticeable child portrait. I imagine the portrait as a generic placeholder portrait, not an actual portrait of them.

The new child portraits would obviously be different enough from the adult ones that that wouldn't happen. It just helps to make sure you don't marry your heir to an Irish count instead of the king of Denmark

Just having one portrait that is based on what they will look like as an adult would be nice, even if its from 0-16. Making it 8-16 could be considered 'close enough' since they are near enough full height by that point. Its kinda sad seeing the random betrothal or your heir turn into some hideous monster without any warning. I've turned down enough betrothals because the genius/attractive duchess turned out to be some kind of hideous mule/pig hybrid.

+1
Let it be just 1 type at least, at some fixed childhood age 8-10 maybe or smth , why are ppl whining about different ages? the main point is that, we want to be able to see whether the child will be blonde or fat etc.
And it would be damn nice if faces resembled traits in general, it isn't that hard to bind attractive to some certain DNA combinations( i know game does not work like that currently, but it shouldnt be that hard to modify, so that this trait didn't occure on it's own based on randomness or something, it might be present only for some face features or their combinations, so that it would make a slight sense at least), like blue eyes and things. Also gluttonous characters are most likely to be fat and so on.

I agree here. While child portraits would be "kinda neat", I would say that's outweighed by the fact that they would definitely make the interface less accessible and harder to navigate.

It's funny, when Pdox announces a DLC the forums are filled with "I don't want this! This is stupid! This should be free! You want all my money!"
When there is no DLC announced, people are all "I want DLC x that does y! Take all my money!"

Or maybe it's different people wanting different things.

And different stages of development cause different people to post more.

Only crappy stupid DLC that don't even work right are complained about. Almost everybody here always says they buy the other graphics DLC even though they don't care for it.

Right now, everybody under the age of sixteen looks exactly the same. It would be nice if their appearance reflected their DNA, and not just their race and gender. If Paradox released a DLC that dealt with this, I'd buy it.

Couple that with designs for some mixed people (your children being all A or all B is weirding me out), and I'm game.

I'd be down for it too.

+1. I promise to buy it if it comes out.

Same as with aging effects, one could work from a base portrait or general idea.

Actually, I would like the Adult portraits to be more "realistic". Dwarf should look a bit different... and it always bugs me when someone has ugly trait and still looks smoking hot, or someone with attractive trait looks just average.

Also, I think some adjustments should be made for gluttonous characters. (You can usually tell a fat person from their face)

This is easily one of the least important things they could do. If they're going to do face packs they should focus on Greeks and Steppe peoples. They should also make Andalusian Muslims lighter skinned since them looking exactly as dark as an Egyptian Arab makes no sense.

Honestly, I just want some variation. I shouldn't see black-haired boys mysteriously turn blonde when they become sixteen. Some visual identifiers and variations would be nice - perhaps a circlet for a prince or princess, the same hair color as they'll be when they turn sixteen, even if they don't change the rest all that much. They'll still have that flat tan background, and that's as much as anything what I see when I'm scrolling through a list since it's so different from the rest of the backgrounds.

Yeah. Or when someone looks fat but they're actually "temperate".

Or especially the other way round. And I'm not sure I've seen some ugly people with the Attractive trait but I've seen people with Ugly who didn't really look that bad.

I am mostly fine with the existing child pictures. Only the Mongolian ones are just awful.

I don't think those pictures are awful per se, but those have completely different art style than any other portrait so those portraits feel bit out of place.

The new child portraits would obviously be different enough from the adult ones that that wouldn't happen. It just helps to make sure you don't marry your heir to an Irish count instead of the king of Denmark

This has never happened to me because besides portraits characters have names, dynasty & realm coat of arms and titles.

I think this is a great idea.
I also don't see why it would cause an identification problem - after all, the background is different for kids (one colour) which makes it easy enough.
