I'm trying to play multiplayer with a friend; his checksum is the one that the wiki says it should be (BPAH), but mine is TNIL. I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it as recommended on Reddit, but nothing changed. Help would be much appreciated.

Do you have Mods from the steam workshop or elsewhere installed and being used while loading up the game?
On the launch screen, it says I am on the correct checksum (BPAH) but when I load up it reverts to TNIL
If you're saying you've reinstalled, then that basically rules out anything being off with your installation but it can't hurt to verify your cache (right-click CK2 in the Library > Properties > Verify Integrity of Game Cache). Only other two things it can be is something to do with mods (remember there's a scroll bar; maybe you've forgotten about one mod at the bottom of the list in the Mod tab) or beta patches (look under Properties > Betas). If nothing else works, reinstall again and make sure its truly a clean install this time by making sure there's nothing left.
Those shouldn't haven't any bearing on anything, but what i would probably still do is make a backup copy of my Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings 2 folder and then delete your original one.
On a side note though, something like 90% of people that come to the forums with your problem with any Paradox game resolve it with either verifying the cache or doing a reinstall. Your only hope might be having a word with Paradox's Tech Support if the clean install doesn't do the trick.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test
In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.
