i have a mac. my friend hosts modded games. we have the same mods installed but different checksums. i have an apple laptop and join fine. ive tried many different things nothing works.
yes vanilla worksDo you have the same checksums on both sides with a vanilla, unmodded game? It not you need to troubleshoot that first and then move from there.
ill try it out thanksThere are TWO unique checksums you need to check.
The first is the starting checksum from the 'Vanilla' hoi4.exe that the Loader displays:

From the thread, it would appear you match each other.
If these two are not the same, you should both verify your game files through Steam and check again.
The second appears after you hit play in the loader:

This one reflects all mods and command line options (not sure about DLC's) added by the user, these must also match for MP to happen 'fairly'.
If the second 'runtime' checksums are different you need to check:
1- that command line uses the same options (the -debug command line changes this checksum)
2- that you have the same mods and the same versions of mods. With the new patch & dlc, many mods are being updated also.
Hope this helps.
i typed in the debug command but it just says turned on not really sure what to doThere are TWO unique checksums you need to check.

You should probably turn it off in this case.i typed in the debug command but it just says turned on not really sure what to do
so we use 3 mods we get different checksums when I am on this computer but when I am on my laptop it works thats the confusing partYou should probably turn it off in this case.
When you add '-debug' to the command line, it turns on the in-game console and error tracking, which you don't need to synch checksums.
At first you just want to see if the two checksums can be identical with your system and your friends.
yes one is on mac and other is on windows but my mac laptop lets me join. and i have tried uninstalling hoi4 and steam. and redoing mods and verify filesIf one of the players is on Windows and another on OSX/Linux there may also be a problem with file names in one of the mods you use. On Windows, "Germany.txt" and "germany.txt" refer to the same file while on Unix-like operating systems they don't.
