Checksum different in launcher to what appears in game - Multiplayer not possible

When I launch the game, the current checksum DPOO appears in the top right corner of the launcher. However, when I launch the game the checksum that appears is KBBR.

None of the solutions I know of or have found on the net fix this. I've verified the game cache, checked for updates, reinstalled the game and so on.

HELP!!! I missed a large multiplayer game today with my friends because of this infuriating issue...

Sounds like you have mods enabled ... ?

Nope clean install with no mods, I have all major DLC's except RoI.

I think the only difference was CM being added? (Last multiplayer game was before then)

DLCs make no difference to checksums.

Just to be sure we're on the same page, here's what I mean by a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

So ALL files in BOTH locations must be gone before you start the re-install.

That's correct, I've done that as well. Wiped everything.

It's the mac version if that makes any difference (though I doubt it). Does the checksum KBBR have any significance? How old is it?

I don't recall KBBR, no. Nor am I aware of any mechanism by which the two checksums can differ, they ought to be reading the same files of course. The equivalent locations for the Mac files are detailed in the sticky 'file locations' thread above. AFAIK you are the only one seeing this.

Well this is weird and annoying as hell. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next update and see what happens.

You definitely deleted ALL files in BOTH documents/ck2 and Steam/CK2 before the re-install, as per the Mac locations thread I linked? You need to get to the hidden ~Library file system as part of that, on Mac.
