Surely I'm not only one who would like to see at least the same "cheats" as in HoI2.

Especially "nofog" and "acceptall" and "event XY". All these also very useful for mod testing/development :)

For the people whinnig about cheating: You don't have to use them, OK?

Nofog is neccessary for off-hand games - even betatesting. Other cheats will be there to for sure.
OTOH the HoI2 was so simple that no cheats were neccessary to make WC with a minor.

i also value the handsoff cheat when i'm "playing" as Cuba to test whatever change i've made.

Honestly, the only concern that i can see with cheat-commands would be multi-player... and i assume that's handled already somehow.

In reality, this sort of functionality are not cheats, but nessecary tools for (beta)testing. So you can count on them being in; since they're not only needed for betatesting the product itself, but the community "needs" them to test mods too.

You should be able to cheat for pretty much everything in the game. One thing I always hated was how the cheats were, shall we say, hard-coded.

I mean, what I want to see, is that if you type into the console "Money = 1000000" you get a million bucks, instead of having some generic "Moneycheat" that gives you five thousand each time you type it. Same thing for manpower, resources, IC and whatnot.

This way you can play the game and manipulate the world to balance odds and create situations (Which makes hands-off games far more interesting, and allows you to realize the strenghts and weaknesses of not only the AI but the game engine as well).

And also the console should have more functionalities. Setting FPS rates, gamma, difficulty setting and pretty much everything.

I'm pretty certain that modders can not make massive overhauls to the console. Its functionality is completely hardcoded, protected in the depths of the source-code, and as such it needs to be functional when it comes from Johan, otherwise there is little, if anything, that we can do.

He meant adding cheat events.

I must admit I used accept all many times in HoI2. I mean, when the AI won't accept even a white peace when I have almost every province that is just messed up.

Well there are definitely at least some cheats in already. As stated, nofog is a prereq for testing such games. Also, Johan mentioned using cheats in one of the early DD discussions, regarding how Sweden was ready for war in so short a time (i.e. that week's screenshot).

I'm pretty sure the usual Paradox bunch will be in (Hoping for an 'acceptall' cheat that EUIII lacked, for use when the AI us being 'stubborn')

BTW, what does the handsoff cheat do?

Makes the game run without any pausing from events or messages, so you can run the game without touching the keyboard or mouse and without pausing :)

Usually used to test out changes by playing some small country like Cuba and letting the game run to see the effects.

Or your puppet won't trade blueprints 1 for 1. Know your master!

Lately, I've been using nofog a lot since im at end game and not doing much so i look at the world in chaos going crazy. Acceptall and event XX are the ones i use most often. Very useful for quick fixes on the world map that you find incorrect, seceding provinces and whatnot.

acceptall is the one sorely missing from EU3. I hope it makes a comeback.

You don't really need it...

Pause the game
Send the offer
Save the game w/o unpausing
Resign
Restart the save as the target of your offer
As soon as the game starts, accept the offer w/o unpausing
Save the game w/o unpausing
Resign
Restart the save as your origial country

As a matter of fact, this even works with peace offers many times over 100%.

Takes slightly longer than acceptall, but how often do you need to use it?
