Cheats on MAC?

Can someone please tell me how to access the cheats screen on a mac? I've tried ~, F12, and alt+21 and none work. Also, if the cheats themselves are different, I could use those as well.

The cheats themselves are probably the same; are you on a notebook or desktop Mac? Basically you need to do whatever you do to generate characters not on the keyboard to create a § to open the console. On most computers this is Alt-21:
press and hold Alt
press and release 2 on the numeric keypad
press and release 1 on the numeric keypad
release Alt

It's a bit trickier on a notebook since you normally have no numeric keypad. See the wiki.

I have a MAC mini - so the keyboard is a typical mac keyboard. Like I mentioned before, I have tried alt+21 and I also tried option +6 (cause that's how you get the funny S symbol on a mac). None of these options worked.

I think it's also different for different country versions of the Mac keyboard. I think Alt-3 is # on a British keyboard (because Shift-3 is £).

Have you tried the alternative Alt-0167? I think option-6 might only work in MacOS; are you using the Mac version of EU3 or Windows? (And if I'm not mistaken option and alt are different names for the same key on a Mac.)

Notepad or wordpad would probably be better; you want to make sure the file is saved as plain text with no extra word-processor overhead.

Oh, and the "small console" is worth noting; you only get a one-line box open in EU3, not the big window you get in previous Paradox games so if you were looking for that you might not notice that you actually did open the console.

I've got a US keyboard myself. It's on my MacBook Pro but I can't imagine it would be any different for any other keyboard.

You're right, it is just a small one-line console.

I'm sure I have things to add… for example, there's a bug in the Mac version, where on some machines it show trees in the city view with obnoxious black boxes behind them. It's an issue VP is aware of and are fixing in an upcoming update, but the quick fix is to remove the file EU3 Data Files/gfx/cityview/objects/common/vegetation.dds while leaving vegetation.tga present in that folder.

Cheats on mac

I have the US version of Mac and i'm running EU3 on Mac OSX 10.4.
I will try your suggestions and get back to you in a bit.

You'd be more likely to get an answer in the HoI2 forum since it would almost certainly not be the same as EU3.
(Ideally you'd get the info from Virtual Programming who wrote the MacOS version but I believe they no longer have forums of their own. Might be worth opening a tech support ticket with them though.)
