Cheats don't work >_<

I downloaded EU III (am playing it on a laptop) last night and tried to use the cheat codes, Alt+21 to no avail. I also pressed the button under Escape and again nothing. No matter what I do I can't seem to be able to get the console open. Am I doing anything wrong, or is it the case it won't work on a laptop? The download I have, which I got on Gamers Gate has the In Nomine expansion with it.

i generally just try to press tab and the button under esc a couple of times at the same time or click on an enemy province and click away and try again if i got a bug that needs fixing. have you tried that yet?

Yep, you'll probably need to do something like Fn + k + j

That only works in Divine Wind which the OP doesn't have. In older versions you must use § or some combination of keys to generate that keycode (Alt-0167 or Alt-21 on a number pad, not the top row of the keyboard).
And unfortunately it seems like some new laptops don't have the ability use an embedded numpad like the pic Junuxx posted.

i got EU3 complete first because i thought it was complete and im not sure since it was a year ago but i press Alt and than while holding alt down 2 1 not on the numpad. or maybe you just press Alt+21. include the + and .
