Cheat codes for explorers and conquistadors

I know I shouldn't cheat, and hardly ever do, honest . But I make an exception where explorers and conquistadors are concered.

I found the cheat code for a conquistador but can't get it to work. It's been a couple of years since I played and I vaguely recall last time it was a five digit number, but this time it is apparently just event[57]? Another problem is that some of the keys on my keyboard won't type in the "F12 space", eg #, [] etc. Is this the correct code, and am I using it right? Any help from fellow cheaters - and people who would never cheat but know the answer - greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't use any brackets. Instead, just type "event 57", exclusive of the quotation marks.

I used to cheat, but it has been a few years since I played and I just created a new account on this site.

Thanks for the advice, guys. The codes on the paradox thread do work - unlike the ones I got from the internet when I googled for EU cheats.
