France national focus that's a headache to trigger for essentially no gain and but for the lost of Morocco to Spain for free... Anyway, I set myself to try to trigger it.
You need Fascist Spain, Portugal and Italy in your faction.
List of things that can go wrong:
-Spain Republican wins civil war: It can happen if the AI go popular front then has enough time to disband the army. Nationalist will struggle to keep hold of a port.
-Portugal go fascist: The fifth empire makes them leave your faction. May happen if Duarte are brought back, the fascist have good odds to win the civil war.
-UK go fascist and pry Italy from your alliance... they also have a shot at stealing Spain too.
-Nationalist Spain doesn't go fascist or complete goes Latin bloc before: if they can create a faction I think Spain refuses your invite by default.
-Spain goes for Join the Axis before you can invite them.: The problem is that you can't invite them right away because you have to wait for them to turn fascist first but before they unlock a national focus that that's going to prevent them from joining you
The Portugal one is easiest to fix as you can sort of reliably puppet Portugal by spending your first political point right after having lifted the disjointed government malus. However if Japan goes for China the world tension might just inch high enough for UK to guarantee them if they feel like it. Invading portugal also try to seal the latin bloc national focus.
If Uk go fascist you basically have to rush 'expand to the Suez' to trigger a war with the UK before they have Italy leave. (And you don't even get a news event for it... you're not even notified!)
In my current game it looked like the stars had lined up. Nationalist Spain was going the falange path and ultimately winning the civil war, Portugal was snatched on cue. UK was going Mosley and managed to trigger the war with them only a couple of days before they finish the alliance with Italy national focus. Normally a war with the UK would have been dangerous with Germany still up and about but they were entangled in the war with a faction of poles, romanian and czechs. The stars seemed to have lined up...
Up until Spain rejected joining my faction. aaaaaaarg!!!! Someone out there knows what were the odds for it? Was it because I was already at war? I know Spain has a focus that prevent them joining a faction but the France national focus was supposed to bypass that...
