Hello as your court builds up with more characters what use do they really become for you. With a number of women courtiers and widows that you cant seem to marry off and all the male courtiers with their various ambitions. It seems to me a waste of space unless they can mean something to you or possibly your opponents about your courts attitude to you and your rulership. Is that what they are any good for? Hope for any ideas thanks.

Ignore everyone who has no land, is not a heir or pretender and has poor skills. Excess males get assigned to lead levies, I believe. Everyone has the chance of becoming hostage fodder, but the system usually gives your children away first.

When ambitions get fulfilled the relevant stat increases by one. So when choosing your new master of ceremonies, arms or guard you should check if any of the high skill candidates have an ambition for the job.

Appointing your heir to positions he develops an ambition for is also a good way to increase his skills by a point or two.

I would assume you would see that anyway if you want to change any of those posts in the court. When you have the menu open up to show whose entitled for a particular job.

When appointing characters for jobs you can see everyones stats, but you actually have to open the character view to see if he has an ambition, and what that ambition is.

Right i think im starting to see what you are getting at now. So if you appoint someone that has an ambition for a particular job the statistics increase when he gets the job then instead of someone that hasnt an ambition for that job? One final thing if a character has an ambition for a particular job does his statistics increase over time more than someone that doesnt want the job?

It's a one time increase when the ambition gets fulfilled. But jobless characters can develop new ambitions later, so this can be used to train your heirs by waiting for them to develop an ambition, and giving them a job. Then replace them and wait for them to develop another ambition.

Fulfilling courtiers ambitions for the military masters job could also be useful, since male characters lead your armies, so having them increase their martial stat is beneficial.

Thanks for the advice and makes the game more intereting. One other thing i noticed and im not sure its my imagination. But one of my court officials the Ceremonial Guard one. Looks like his intrigue level has been going down over time when i looked at it. Im sure it was a lot higher like at 11 points and now its 6 points. Does this sort of thing happen?
