Strategos Ioannes of Thessalonika in 867. I really like starting out as vassals of the Byzantine Empire, before breaking free and making my own Kingdoms, and now that Thessalonika is the new capital of the local Kingdom, I think it could be a cool starting place. And 867 is my preferred starting date.
