Hi all,

I've had this game, where suddenly one of my successors disappeared from the succession list without reason (for me at least), and now i have to pick someone else, though I have no clue why.

Duke Berthold had 7 children, 6 daughters from his first wife, and 1 (genius) daughter from his second wife.

One of his first daughters, he married matriliearily off to a danish price.
They begot 3 children, one of which was the heir to my reign.
After he died i chose the 7th daughter of the original ruler (his aunt) as new heir and kept playing her up to now.

Now i want to chose my great-nephew as heir (the grandson of my half-sister).

And i could do so, until i fought and won a war over Aragon for his mother, to place him in 1st line of succession for Aragon.

- first i thought it would be HRE Crown Authority. But even changing that in the savegame - to understand whats going on - didn't help
- he's also frankish and not german, but usually that doesnt matter either
- he IS in my country, he's even my Steward.
- even giving a county to him, didnt help, i still can't select him
- when hovering my mouse over his face, the game displays (Your kinsman). I CAN select other "kinsman" as heirs, but not him

WHY?

------------------------
Also on a sidenote, i had something happen to me during the war for Aragon, which also made no sense.
While fighting them (and having captured 3 counties), the muslims decided to invade Aragon.

They took a county and the king of France decided to help Aragon out,
so his army of 20k walks through the counties i conquered and marches toward the muslim one.

Then the Aragon army attaches to his army (so far so good),
and suddenly he keeps attacking and freeing all counties i held in Aragon.

He was NOT listed as ally in the war I was fighting. I was so afraid,
i put all my armies on ships and waited until he was finished.

He walked off, i recaptured and France came back to kick my butt out of Spain. What gives?
I had to wait till the muslims were beat and suddenly he stopped attacking my conquered holdings in Aragon.
That war cost me about 700g (all i had) in mercenaries, although i could've beat him without any expenses otherwise.

I'm guessing the reason why you can't make your great-nephew your heir is because he is already the heir to another, independent kingdom outside the de jure lands of the kingdom in which your duchy(?) exists.

In some of my multiplayer games, when other players have had their evil clutches on my characters in their realm, they appoint them as successors to bishops, and they are excluded from my line of succession even before they inherit the bishopric :( Sneaky players...

Maybe this is happening to you?

Actially ity is mach simpler.. You can not have him as successor becouse he is not your direct dissidant. If you read ellective laws, only electors and direct dissadant of ruler can inherit. If you want son or grandson of your sister to inherit, you need first to make him ellector.

That is true. I don't understand why. Could you or anyone elaborate?

I thought i would become King. The kingdom would be incorporated into the HRE. The HRE is an empire, so that should be totally possible....
