Hello, I am hoping one of you fine people would help me with modding character health in the setup.
There is a character that dies historically in the first game year but in the game lives for decades.
Should I use health=-50? health=10?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you want him/her to die quickly why not just put it at 0?

I am not trying to kill someone, the problem should have already been seen by you. As far as I can tell characters at game start have near or at 100 health and if they start old they will have absurdly long lives.

I hope there is something I can do to mod their health to make lifespans more realistic for the first generation.

You could write an event that is run once at game start, before the player even loads in, that has one or more triggers for characters of different ages that add negative health to them (subtracting from their current health).

You could even fine tune it to reduce differing amounts of health depending on their already existing health (unsure if all characters start at 100 health at game start or not).
And if you want to ensure that certain characters meet their ends within a certain timeline, you can target characters by their ID in such an event.

Sickness traits are only good in the long term; many only give minus .05 health/month and the bad ones give minus 1 health/month.

Hmm, okay, everyone lives too long anyway so I just doubled the health loss of all of the those traits, and then gave some fairly unobtrusive health traits to a few older starting characters.
