Hello, ill be short.

So character creation is confirmed to come later some time, and I was thinking about how you create one character in CK2, and then have the option to add a spouse and children.
But in CK2 these are auto generated, so I thought "How would I want it in CK3"?

So basically I have to prioritize my wishes, so first of all I wish to have the option to custom create your spouse too, so that if you create a character(maybe even yourself) you can also create the wife/husband(Maybe your real life partner). This way you could create a dynasty which derives from two custom characters, giving a little control of your DNA at least the first generation.
While I think it will be fun, it also helps me role play better when I want to create myself for example, as my real life wife is ethnically Indian, and I am Norwegian/Portuguese :p
But for any other scenario too, there would be plenty of situations where I would like to create both in a relationship.

Second wish, less priority is to be able to create forefathers IF you want, so that I could create parents and grandparents as far as I wish, creating an even deeper DNA pool at the start.
This way you could create long family trees either for your fantasy family, real life family or other types of fun into the CK3 game start.

I would LOVE to fiddle with this a lot before game start, and I imagine some other people here would too. What do you say people?

A dynasty creator akin to the custom nation creator in EUIV would be a fun tool to be sure. I wonder if you can really create such a thing with all the interconnectedness of the major families during CK's timeframe.

You could do this from the start using the console by creating the DNA for each character and copy/pasting it to your save file. I'm not sure if you'll have the ability to do so from the ruler designer, though I have my doubts. I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to do so just for the sake of not having to play around with the save files.

I'd like to be able to start from either end. Either make my character first and build back, or optionally start with a pair of characters and work my way down up to, say... ten generations, to determine my starting character.

Yes I know, and many say so but it is way more accesable and eas if they have an in game create character tool.
They will be adding it but later, so they could make it like many other RPG games have, with sliders and such for facial features etc.

I just hope I can create more with such an in-game creator, like creating spouse too. That way I can create me and my wife :D

But for other purposes too, it would be much more fun to be able to create your spouse too, and I wouldnt midn if I could creat ancestors too.

Yeah, if its optional then it would be fun to create a family tree, with a egenrated character too in the end :p then again, that would happen if you have the add child option like in ck2, thats generated out of parent/s DNA. So if you can create your character, spouse and even ancestors, then have add child(boy/girl + age) the child/ren could be auto generated out of the pre-existing DNA pool which you just created.
And the more generations you make, the more surprising looks you can get like if your kid has red hair like his great-great-grandmother, but everyone else have dark brown hair or black hair etc.

Another interesting element would be to select an existing forfather making your new dynasty a house to his dynasty.
Yeah, but how would that work? Just randomly give you parents from the dynasty? You have to be part of the family tree to be part of the dynasty, so you can't just say, let me use that last name. I'm pretty sure (though not positive) that cadet houses also have to have a specific connection and not just claim the connection. You'd have to either manually choose your connection or it would have to randomly connect you. I don't think random is a good idea.

I know and there is ofc challenges. But I did say "Select", I pictured a list to pick a dead forfather from. If needed, the Ruler Designer would have to fill the gap with more dead ancesters, could be a rather arbitrary 1 dead forfather for every started 50 years between the created charachter´s birth and the selected forfather´s death or something. All generated "fillers" are of your dynasty, not the selected for-fathers. The fillers are not holders of your or any other titles. No claims are inherited from the selected forfather, even if applicable.

I say this unironically: they should copy the Sims character creator. You can create yourself, your wife, generate a son with combined genes, and so on.

I think the AGOT mod for CK2 has an interesting system for that.

You can select a special trait when creating your character that allows a personal interaction with any character in the world.

When you select it, it fires an event that allows you to choose how you want to be family-related to that character (making you of their dynasty).

It checks the age difference between that character and yourself, so for example if they are about the same age, you will be able to choose brother or cousin, and if the gap is significant, you will be able to become son/daughter or grandson/granddaugher.

You can also choose to be a "distant relative", which puts you into the dynasty tree, but without any clear link to anyone.

It then clears the special trait.

I find this system awesome and am still puzzled as to why it has never been made a standalone minimod for vanilla.

Anyway, it could be implemented into CK3.
