Charles Scott Morgan
Early Career Charles Scott Morgan is 67 years old. He was a politician in the United States, serving as mayor of the town of West Oak Grove, Indiana, and later lieutenant-governor of that state. However, after unsuccessful bid for governorship, he took to writing, penning two novels and a short-story collection. However, his political views were his most successful writings, his book on foreign relations affecting foreign policy of several presidents.
Early EUtopian Career Morgan decided to retire to the island of EUtopia, to live in the quiet countryside and read the newspaper, following the local baseball team. However, upon arrival he decided to return to politics, joining the Free Republicans and becoming a last-minute replacement for Jacob Lundgren in the parliament elections. He founded during his first Parliament term The Gazette, which has become EUtopia's most widely read newspaper, and soon followed up with the EUtopian Journalism Association. After taking a long absence, he returned to politics as a member of the Moderate Party.
Perhaps his most important contribution early on was his work as Chairman of the Committee for the Investigation of Membership in the World Trade Organization, which turned in by majority vote a favorable report to joining the WTO. Its report has had an influence on Morgan's later policy-making, including his drafting of a WTO Membership bill.
Minister Morgan John O'Floinn, upon re-election, chose Morgan to serve as Minister of Defense and International Affairs. Morgan's first term was an amazing success, as he toured North America, halted an invasion by Guyanese mercenaries (befriending Colin Powell in the process), and finally stopping an enormous terrorist attack planned by Lt. Gen. Roger Smith. During this time the Military Reform Commission finished, and a Military Reform Bill was drafted; also, Minister Morgan became Chairman of the Moderate Party.
Shortly after the next elections (in which Morgan, by slip of organization, forgot to register the Moderate Party to run!), he was selected to continue as MDIA. He spent most of the second term dealing with a major crisis in the Western EUtopia Territory, where an American incursion threatened to destroy EUtopian-American relations and cause a rebellion in Farpoint. The situation was mostly resolved at the end of the term, and the Minister proposed a new treaty with the States regarding their naval base at Farpoint.
During this time he sold The Gazette to the Blade! Family Conglomerate, but inherited New Lancaster Recording Company and launched its "Great EUtopians Collection". His American football team, the Douglas Devils, sailed into 3rd place in the league.
Minister Morgan's reign as MDIA finally ended in great triumph, as he finally managed to pass the WTO Membership Bill he had worked on for so long. This was perhaps the crowning achievement of his career.
Retirement After a run for the Presidency as an independent (in which he arguably decided the outcome of the elections), C.S. Morgan announced his retirement in politics, leaving what one newspaper called a "huge void," or at least that's what they said until he agreed to become their editorial analyst.
In his retirement, C.S. Morgan moved to his villa outside Douglas, Casa Legno, and began life as a commentator. He was a witness in the famed trial of H.J. Tulp and David Haynes, and became editorial columnist for the EUtopian Today. Several appearances on TV debate programs followed, and Morgan's last act before withdrawing to Casa Legno entirely was to hold a gala dinner for a visiting diamond heiress.
However, he was soon pulled back for a short stint once again as Minister of Defense and International Affairs. His service was extremely uneventful, and (while contemplating a third run for the Presidency) Charles Scott Morgan died of a heart attack in Casa Legno. He was 77.
