Humph. Interesting, the lack of DVP and DStP/DDP. Not their lack in the Council- though the DVP would have seemed a likely invitee, being the right-centre and the fifth largest party in the former Reichstag if the KPD were uncounted, but, then again, the Council doesn't follow the old Reichstag- after all, the SPD were the largest party in the 1930 and 1928 Reichstags- but their lack of mention, while the DNVP is.

It's an experiment by von Schleicher, von Papen and Hindenburg. The DVP was, like you said, the fifth largest party in Germany, and when you count for the mass waves of support the Communist Revolt generated for both the NSDAP and the DNVP, their influence isn't all that great in this alternate history. Their lack of mention is mostly due to two things. I've picked the parties which will be major parties throughout the AAR to be the "stars" and none of the Liberal Parties will be that important throughout this whole thing. The other part is that I just haven't mentioned them specifically for fear of making things too convoluted and messy. I've referred to "the parties of the right" when talking about the meetings of the Reichstag, and be sure that the Right coalition includes both the DVP and DDP, although the largest faction members are the NSDAP and DNVP.
But, as it is, it is good to see someone who knows a great deal about German interwar politics, probably even more than myself. It'll make me do my research

Before you know it you have him racing around the world doing everything from espionage to commando raids. That's waht happened to me when I last wanted to develop a character more.

And Fedor and the lovely blonde will suffer. He was pretty bold in proclaiming the bar was protected by them!

Berlin
“So, Ferdinand, I take it our last assassination attempt didn’t go according to plan, eh?” von Schleicher’s eyes bored across the table into von Bredow’s.
“I’m sorry, Kurt, but it didn’t. To be honest, we underestimated the Reichsbanner. I wasn’t expecting them to fight back so well.” von Bredow shifted in his seat, nervously. At any second he expected von Schleicher to shout at him for his failure. To his surprise, though, von Schleicher’s angry expression left his face suddenly and he seemed to be thinking deeply, stroking his mustache and tapping his fingers on the table.
“I asked you to find out who the commanders of that Reichsbanner unit were.” he said. “Were you able to?”
“I was able to get quite a bit of information, actually.” von Bredow opened his briefcase and removed two folders. He took one and pushed it across the desk to von Schleicher. “That man is the Captain of that Reichsbanner company. A man by the name of Gerhardt Trapp. And this—“ he said, pushing the other folder across the desk—“is his second-in-command, a Lieutenant named Fedor Holzherr. We were able to find pretty detailed information on both.”
Von Schlicher nodded and took a sip of his coffee as he scanned the files. “I spoke with a few of the assassins myself.” he said, without looking up. “They told me that Trapp fellow is a smart leader, that he managed to get the delegates out of the ambush while completely out-gunned.”
“If you’d like, I can have the assassins target him, then.” said von Bredow. “If you think he’s going to block our mission, we could kill him.”
“Kill him? Are you insane, Ferdinand?” von Schleicher seemed to now be a mix of shocked and annoyed. “As it is, your mission is completed. The Social Democrats have voted to move to the center and join our government, so there’s no need to shoot any more of them. Besides, this group of the Reichsbanner has changed my opinion of their entire organization. I always thought that they were nothing more than a group of fake Reds who trotted around in uniforms, rather than really fighting. Apparently I was wrong! They could be a valuable part of our plans to covertly enlarge the military.”
“Why do we need them incorporated into the military, though? The Reds are nearly beaten.”
“Ahh, but the Reds are only the tip of the iceberg my friend. Look into the Reichsbanner’s leadership, and arrange a meeting of them with myself. That is all, you are dismissed.”
Despite wanting an explanation of the “tip of the iceberg” comment, all von Bredow got in return was von Schleicher irritably waving his hand and repeating that he had been dismissed. Sighing, he left the Chief of Staff’s office. It will have to wait another day. he thought to himself. So much for sharing of intelligence between senior officials.
Wheels within wheels. This could get wheely confusing.
Goddamnit! I fail to think of a Halifax joke to make!
Anyway, this should get interesting. I can see the Internet conspiracy theories on this whole affair already.
