Changing Victoria's resolution

I got a new widescreen monitor and want to play Victoria in 1920 x 1080. I downloaded Unknown's resolution changer but whenever I try to run it I get an error box saying "An error occurred while patching (null). Bad arguments." I can't type anything in the command interface and if I click out of the error message it crashes.

Ok, for example, if you use a shortcut on your desktop to access the game, when you Right click -> Properties, there will be a bax that says Target. Within that box will be something similar to the following:

"C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Victoria\Victoria.exe"

If after that you add -1920 x 1080

So that it now reads:

"C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Victoria\Victoria.exe" -1920x1080

It may force the game into that resolution. I have no tried it myself but I know similar things works for other games, such as using -w or -windowed to forced the application to run in windowed mode.

Victoria doesn't seem to support 1920x1080 under any circumstances. My suggestions would be to either find a resolution of the same ratio that it does accept, or to play it in windowed mode. The latter will require that you drop your desktop down to 16-bit colour for the duration of the gaming session, however.

I had it run under 1920x1080 with the screen resolution changer I found on the forums. But it always CTD'd when I moved the mouse to the bottom of the screen and other people said such bugs were normal and no one had found a solution.
So unless you're comfortable playing that way, just switch to 4:3 mode and play in the native resolution.
