Changing the in-game music?

I'm a bit of a EU n00b, so I'm sorry if this has been asked before (I did a forum and Google search and found nothing) and I also apologise if this is in the wrong forum.

Anyway, is it possible to change the in-game music of EU:Rome? Don't get me wrong, the music is great but I wondered if it's possible to use different music. I notice that the music is simply a folder with mp3 format tracks, so can I remove and replace these tracks with mp3s from EUIII, for example? Or does EU:Rome search for specific file information?

I know that I could experiment with this myself, but I haven't for fear of somehow 'breaking' the game and losing my saves and having to re-install. It's just easier to ask if anyone has done this before.

Well it wouldn't "break" the game if you tried. I'm quite sure of this. Just be sure to backup the original .mp3s, and put in your own. If it doesn't work for whatever reason, simply put the original files back in.
If plain replacement doesn't work, renaming your own mp3s to match that of the originals almost certainly would.

Ive got some lord of the rings music if you want them, it goes along nicely with Rome

I'm not sure, but I think you may have to change the file names of the new mp3's to match the old ones. Something to try if just placing them in the music folder doesn't work, anyway.

afaik you just have to place the .mp3 files in the folder, and they will be added to the playlist automatically.
Atleast this is the way it will be in IN, and i'd guess that since it is obviously possiblewith the current engine they would use that system for Rome as well.

i added 10 LOTR songs to Rome, they dont play in the menu but when your in the game they do

The game probably assigns a particular song to the menu (in order for it to play the same one every time, rather than random like in the game), so all you'd have to do is figure out which one it is (presumably you could just listen to them), and then rename your .mp3 to the same as this one.

It does indeed work.

I simply removed the Paradox mp3 files and replaced them with my own selection (the soundtrack to '300'). I started up the game and played through an hour or so with no problems. No file editing needed.
