Is it possible to change the color of water in HoI2DD to a lighter blue -like the color of the oceans in EU2? If so, how? Thanks in advance

Is this possible to do? Can the color of countries on the political map be changed as well? Thanks in advance
Yes. In maps\colorscales.csv:
One of the groups of five refers to water, probably the third to last one.
For the political map: In db\country.csv, find the tag of the country that you want to change, then change the second item to the color that you want.

My problem is that I can't seem to make any changes to the colorscales screen. I can highlight any words or numbers with a blue backround, but then when I press delete (or anything else) -nothing changes. I'm trying to make the water a lighter shade of blue.
As you can probably tell, I'm new to changing files and I lack computer skills in general.

those files are read only, just make them read/write.
Usually, a right click followed by the selection of properties and an uncheck of the corresponding box would do it just fine.
I let your wisdom found what box have to be unselected (One can remenber only what One learned with hard work ...)

Download CORE. Go into /map and copy colorscales.csv and voila! You'll have light blue water.
