Changing save folder location

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to move Victoria II save/configuration folder from 'C:/Users/{...}/My Documents/Paradox Games/Victoria II' to another location, far far away from my new SSD !
Problem is, I can't find anywhere the solution. Is there anyone here who managed that ?

As you said it seems not possible to do that with settings...

For the record, on Windows Vista and higher versions, making a symbolic link seems to work.

Just create a new folder named Paradox Interactive in the desired location.
Then in cmd, go to C:/Users/{...}/My Documents/ and create the symoblic link with the following command :

mklink /D "C:/Users/{...}/My Documents/Paradox Interactive" "[Your new location path]/Paradox Interactive".

Or you can just tell windows to move you user document folder to a new location.

Open up a folder showing your user, right click on "My Documents" and choose properties.

Click on the location tab, and set new location.

It will then move all your documents to a different location.

just adding a userdir.txt file to the games installed location pointing where you would rather have V2 store its stuff will also work.
an example file would just contain a single line like this:
C:\VictoriaUserFiles


and it would store everything there.
