but not the way you think I mean, though. ;)

I have recently been inspired to begin working on a scenario starting circa 500 AD using the unlimited time patch. I was wondering if anyone knew if it were possible to change the names of some of the religions that would be unnecessary in this game to ones that would be (i.e. protestantism would change to arianism and reform would change to monophysite (sp?)).

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if you could sleep a religion until an event (other than reform and protestant) . . . specifically, Islam, until the arrival of Muhammed.

I did a search on this and didn't find anything . . . so I didn't know if I just missed it or if it was not possible to do this at all. I'm kinda new at all of this. It's probably a very big project to be starting with, but what can I say, I've been inspired . . . ;)

Thank you

Thank you

1) Religion names can be changed by editing text.csv in your config folder.

2) No sleeping of religions except the one you mentions

Lastly: If you start modifying text.csv and possibly other common files too it would be a good idea to use moddir.

You wouldn't necessarily need to sleep Islam until Muhammed arrives. Just make all the normally Islamic provinces as Pagan or whatever they would be at the time you are starting at. Then, when he does arrive, script some events to convert the appropriate provinces to Islam.

That's actually one of the two approaches I had in mind - haven't decided which to use, yet. The other would be to essentially make protestantism into islam, and change the event texts and date of the reformation event, and also the appropriate tech modifiers and sheilds. However, I haven't quite gotten this far yet. I'm still trying to set up the nations.

I think the second idea just makes things much more complicated than they need to be.

Hi,
Go with the first approach as I think that with the second you will find alot of European states embracing Muhammed as their savior!!!!!!:D :D :D
A.

Sounds good (I am itching for a medieval scenario, to lazy to make it myself)

Maybe you could extend the end date of your scenario to 1150? That way there would be a continuous line of EUII scenarios stretching from 600-1914!

Your scenario->Mongolian Empire->GC->AoN

Definately a possibility. The dates I have posted are far from set in stone. I'm leaning towards beginning in 476 with the deposing of Romulus Augustus in the western empire, perhaps giving the east some sort of CB. The end date is far from decided though, and I was actually looking for some sort of good stopping place. I guess this is as good as any. ;) :)

Don't forget that IFU begins in 751 or if you should end in 1150 it might be too long with 650 years which on the other hand looks better than 251 years (or 275 which is quite nice (476-751)).

Q:
Do you care about this at all?

I don't really know all that much about IFU . . . isn't it still waiting to be translated into English? Anyway, I do kinda want to extend this scenario until around 1150 or so, because I have quite a few good ideas for events having to do with the Turkish incursions into Asia Minor during the last 150 years or so of that period.

You are right though, that is a really long time period to be working with. Perhaps I will complete the first 275 years first, and then just add on to the end of it until I get to 1150.
