I want to change my sucession laws but doing so means all ym vassals drop to 0 loyalty and since I have 20 or so of them I can count on at least 5 wars.

Is there a way to change sucession laws without suffering the huge loyalty hit?

Another thing no independant counties ever accept my offers of vassalship, whats up here?

Change succession law when you have no vassals. If you got too many vassals already, never chenge that kind of law, or be ready to the civil war :)

The independt states rarely accepts diplomatic vassalization... in my current game anyway I have diploannexed Duchy of Campania, Piobino and Bishop of Roma (the succesor of the crushed Papal State... crushed by me). Then, isnt impossible.

Well, I know the only time I succeeded was when the dynasty I offered vassalization to was being smashed by a pagan neighbor.

I changed my succession law to primogeniture with only one vassal and he immediatley rebelled and presumably declared war ( I got no message). The wierd thing is though, the vassal was my son and heir, in other words he rebelled against me for changing the law to ensure he would inherit

Truely strange, but heirs have done that before in History...

Yup, I had this too. I didn't want Elective because I got greedy and vassalized a Duke, who would then have taken precedence over my son (probably, his "succession laws" loyalty bonus was higher than my son's). I changed to give the son the title, and his loyalty went to zero. I guess he's just very concerned about the rights of others, the wuss.

I guess the key is to change the laws when you have few vassals. Even if you beat all the revolters (and IMHO it's over 75% who will revolt before you're done), you BB is now through the roof and you're losing 7% loyalty, or more, per month. The only thing I can think of that I didn't try is to have a few spare provinces to hand out as loyalty boosts.

The only way to do this successfully is to remove a couple of vassals to make you strong enough for the revolts after the change... No other way around it..

well, there is almost nothing u can do. lower the scutage, and hope their loyalty comes back up quickly so that not ALL of your vassals rebel.

Now, when reconquering it back, be very careful with the BB. One thing is that you don't have to annex the country back right away. Just besige all of their provinces, annex one, wait for BB to come down annex another one. This can be a major problem if your piety is very low, so raise your piety before the civil war. Revoke your vassals lands (watch loyalty though) and make couple of them into bishotropics.

I did that in my Novgorod game, i had something like 5 weak vassals, 700piety. So in civil war i just took control of all of thier lands, and then slowly annexed them back one by one over few years. There is no war exaustion in this game, so nice
