Changing government question

Quick question:

I wanted to turn monarchy into republic. Obviously it is impossible to do it in game, so I tried to rewrite some things in the save file.

I did the obvious: changed government from feudal_monarchy to merchant_republic and deleted dynasty of the ruler.

But loading this save showed the country again as feudal monarchy.

What did I miss?

You probably just changed it in the history portion, which wont change anything, the history portion is just there to fill in the history section of the game.

Yes, that's it. I missed one "feudal_monarchy" few pages lower. Thanks
