I already know how to change the unit names in game.

What I was wondering is where in the .txt files can I change it so that I don't have to see 1st Irr. Regulars Divsion or 1st Inf. Division or 1st MW Division.

I have searched all the text files and don't know where these generic names are stored.

I'm not talking about the unitnames.csv. I already have created a huge list for myself in there.

I'm talking about the unit names that are given once the list runs out of names. The 1st Inf. Regulars, etc... that are assigned.

Maybe you should try fiddling with unit_names.csv in \config (which is different from unitnames.csv in \db).

I haven't tried it, but it looks like the most likely suspect.

Same for me, seems to be hardcoded. But in my case the game also doesn't seem to use the names I added to the unitnames.csv file in the db directory. So all the ai units have silly names. The same of course applies to my reserve units whom I won't bother to rename one by one.

I wonder whether that file is even used by Victoria.

Marc aka Caran...

Edit: Correcting myself. Nothing's wrong with the unitnames.csv file. I must be breaking it everytime I change something. Yet so much in that file (official or later modified) is wrong I have to continue modifying it. :(

2nd Edit: I figure out the problem. Apparently some names (Indian Infantry Divisions) were too long and Victoria simply ignore the file. So I changed those names and all worked fine :)
