quick question

how do you switch the sliders in the game's files? so instead of having to wait several years to get to an extreme, i can just edit it? (not really cheating, just wanna test something)

oh and as a noob follow up, would free market or central planning be better?

EDIT: aaand, seeing as i don't wanna make multiple threads like this, how do edit the files so that i can change ownership of provinces?

Since I don´t edit anything (as yet) I can´t help you on question 1 and 3. As for number 2 I go for free market if it´s available. Both policies increase production in their extremes (central planning maybe a little more) but free market reduces building/upgrading time and cost.

Use the freedom cheat instead(F12 - freedom), it's easier.

Seconded.

Also, as for province ownership:

Load the game, F12 -> showid -> F12 -> ENTER
Hover mouse over provinces, note down the id displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.
Exit game

Load savegame in Notepad or Notepad++

Search for the country you want to change (i.e. search for a division name or a minister or simply search for "country = {" and look for the tag, e.g. GER for Germany or SOV for Soviet Union)
If you found the country, search from there for "owned_provinces".

Add (or delete) the IDs you wrote down to (from) both the controlled_provinces and the owned_provinces list. Do this for both countries (the former owner and the intended new owner).

Save the file and load it in HoI2. :)
