Changing doctrine for russia?

Hey Everyone, just started playing hoi2 again. Playing the armagedon version right now.

I was just reading through the russia guide and read about changing the land doctrine to spearhead.
My question is, how do i change the land doctrine from human wave as it says i have already choosen another research path and cant choose spearhead?
Do i have to edit files in the game or is there a way to do it while playing the game?

Welcome to the forum.

This must be the most often asked question on the forums...

Answer: Click the latest researched doctrine, click "abandon". Rinse and repeat until the "root doctrine" is abandoned, which will in turn make all other root doctrines become available.

Hint: As USSR it is NOT beneficial to abandon your doctrine, as it becomes very powerful by 1942 (in 1943 you're better than the Germans) and you have perfect tech teams for your current path only.

Well technically, Human Wave, Attritional Containment, and Superior Firepower all share similar specialties...but why you would give up Human Wave for AC or SF makes me wonder. Britain is the one that benefits most from switching tress to Spearhead, given that Operational Stages has the most similarities to Spearhead, and they get a great team for it for a while.
