Can someone please tell me how to change my Corvette's tactic from Swarm to Picket? I am playing my first game of Stellaris and am still using the initial level of ship computer.

Assuming that you researched the combat computer upgrade (which it sounds like), it's as simple as switching the combat computer component type. To be found below sensors, propulsion and power. Don't forget to apply the side-/upgrade to already existing ships 
Well I don't believe I have researched any computer upgrade - when I click on the computer icon in Ship Designer there is only one choice "Basic Combat Computer". Are you saying once I have the proper tech, and click on the new computer, that I will have an option to select swarm or picket for a Corvette? Do you know the specific tech name?
Specialized Combat Roles in Physics research tree. Having destroyers or higher hull and researcher with Computing specialty increases chances to draw it.
