I played CORE for the diversity. I've noticed that destroyers/subs/transports have reverted back to divisions (not individual ships), technology was way more diverse, and events were very diverse. Have things changed that much?

We did (with heavy heart) scrap the individual ship design for smaller vessels in 0.60. The sole reason for that was that the design and game engine were on opposite ends, and it was better to cut our losses rather than to continue down that road. Apart from that things might have changed perhaps, but not drastically so. And we've added events (and diversified event graphics) rather than down-scaling it. So what draws you to the conclusion that the mod has lost diversity?

Especially with Techs/Events we have continually added new material. We're about done with new techs at 0.70 (added 3 this round) but there are a substantial number of new events. And these generally deal with completely new subjects rather then just rehashing old material. AS Hagar noted, the single ship format just was not working d2 limits in the engine. Much like when a mod tried to make each MP equal 1 man. Some things just can't be done at our level. But this is definitely the best version of the mod for those that are still interested in an AoD based approach.
