Exactly, all they have to do is un-comment the code, comment the "coming soon" code, and wham, there you have it, a "Preorder" button with a release date.they could have might as well put it there as a easter egg for some people to find. Wouldnt be the first and certainly wont be the last time a company did this. ^^ They are basicly going to announce the release date guaranteed during the press conference. They most likely simply placed it there today already to make it easier for them to update the site tomorrow.
It means they are commented out, those lines aren't being used right now and won't be displayed on the website. All they have to do is remove the !-- and -- from the beginning and end of the line and they will be used and seen. Now we wait until it's confirmed.
(I did hope that no one had posted the recommended specs but was beaten to even that paltry contribution to the hype)
EDIT: Does anyone know what the colours mean in the source code? The release date and specs seem to be the majority of the green text as opposed to red or blue.

This wouldn't be the first time paradox mucked up like this. They kept Project Augustus (stellaris) under wraps for so long. It was killing everyone on Reddit. Then, a day before the Gamescom 2015 PDX conference, they accidentally released Stellaris onto the steam store. Whoops. All of /r/paradoxplaza knew what Project Augustus was a day early. Well it looks like they messed up this time again, and all of the HoI4 forum is going to know a day early.Trust me I hope you are right. Like the other poster said, perhaps an easter egg. Cant imagine it was done on purpose if they planned to hide the date untill GDC.
Well he certainly is not going to confirm it! The GDC reveal is supposed to be the big, long awaited reveal! If he confirmed the community speculation I am sure he would get in some trouble.I tweeted Johan and he denied all knowledge of it

I envy you. I have to sit in a classroom for six hours on that day, whilst those darn Europeans decide the fate of the world (in HoI4 of course). I don't know how I will bear it.Same here![]()

I never claimed the website looked bad. It looks amazing, and very well done compared to the old heartsofirongame.com! However, as a programmer for a large business, it is somewhat bad practice to leave unused code in the source code, just commented. It can lead to a breach of information fairly easily, just like how you see here.Excellent find.
I just viewed the source for myself and what the OP says is true (as of right now)
I don't really regard this as mistake really... it is fairly common practice to update the webpage slightly before a big announcement. It's not like this info was sitting on the front of the page in bold, and they clearly intended that yellow button to be disabled.
Also, you didn't mention how nice the new HeartsofIronGame.com page looks. That's a good looking website. don't be hard on the website guys...
I doubt this will spoil the fun for the Paradox guys making the announce at GDC. They must be very excited for the release of this one. This is going to be a big deal for PDX when it launches.
Or the maker of this hype increasing plan is getting a promotion and a bottle of comfortSome poor guy at Paradox HQ is will get lynched tonight!
