We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
Exactly, all they have to do is un-comment the code, comment the "coming soon" code, and wham, there you have it, a "Preorder" button with a release date.
If they announce it tomorrow and it turns out to be May 25, it is going to blow my mind. Awesome find, dude! I was hoping for something a bit sooner than late May, but I can't really complain.

It means they are commented out, those lines aren't being used right now and won't be displayed on the website. All they have to do is remove the !-- and -- from the beginning and end of the line and they will be used and seen.

The incredible amount of hype over the past few years(!) has driven us to delve into the code of a website to seek out any morsel of hope, only a mere day before the information should arrive.

Trust me I hope you are right. Like the other poster said, perhaps an easter egg. Cant imagine it was done on purpose if they planned to hide the date untill GDC.
This wouldn't be the first time paradox mucked up like this. They kept Project Augustus (stellaris) under wraps for so long. It was killing everyone on Reddit. Then, a day before the Gamescom 2015 PDX conference, they accidentally released Stellaris onto the steam store. Whoops. All of /r/paradoxplaza knew what Project Augustus was a day early. Well it looks like they messed up this time again, and all of the HoI4 forum is going to know a day early.

Well he certainly is not going to confirm it! The GDC reveal is supposed to be the big, long awaited reveal! If he confirmed the community speculation I am sure he would get in some trouble.

I envy you. I have to sit in a classroom for six hours on that day, whilst those darn Europeans decide the fate of the world (in HoI4 of course). I don't know how I will bear it.Same here

I just viewed the source for myself and what the OP says is true (as of right now)
I don't really regard this as mistake really... it is fairly common practice to update the webpage slightly before a big announcement. It's not like this info was sitting on the front of the page in bold, and they clearly intended that yellow button to be disabled.
Also, you didn't mention how nice the new HeartsofIronGame.com page looks. That's a good looking website. don't be hard on the website guys...
I doubt this will spoil the fun for the Paradox guys making the announce at GDC. They must be very excited for the release of this one. This is going to be a big deal for PDX when it launches.

I never claimed the website looked bad. It looks amazing, and very well done compared to the old heartsofirongame.com! However, as a programmer for a large business, it is somewhat bad practice to leave unused code in the source code, just commented. It can lead to a breach of information fairly easily, just like how you see here.
Not that I object to finding that info

True, True... and it is a good looking webpage. You were probably just too excited by what you found to mention that at first.
I sure hope the release isn't later than what we have now though, otherwise a great many hype trains will run out of fuel.

My recommendation to us all as a collective is to relax a little and just wait for the facts tomorrow though. Just so we don't write hype-cheques that might not be cashed.
