Honestly, CK2 taught me to never trust Paradox's requirements anymore. While my old machine forcefully removed itself from existence, it was well within the requirements (still a tin can); the game had become completely unplayable by the time 2.5 hit.

Well, at this point it is still speculation and still could be a placeholder. But it could be very possible aswell. Overall, podcat mentioned he ran out of time to code the air supplying of troops, which indicates that development is basicly done. Other than that Johan said that HoI IV would be released before Stellaris and since Paradox never releases games in winter and certainly wont release 2 major titles at the same time, may makes the most sense. Other than that the Beta runs since january and Johan said that it will probably take roughly 2-3 months before they get a release date. I am expecting Stellarins in June/July then.

I dont know, why would anyone enter the release date, via a comment in the code, for a highly anticipated game.
Everyone knows you can inspect the code for websites.

I don't think they are pulling our strings, I think they made a somewhat bad decision, or want it to be discovered. And as I said, the changes to the site are VERY recent, so they may not have thought anybody would get suspicious enough to scour the source code of two different websites in such a short time span...
Unfortunately for Paradox, two and a half years makes people do some crazy things.

they could have might as well put it there as a easter egg for some people to find. Wouldnt be the first and certainly wont be the last time a company did this. ^^ They are basicly going to announce the release date guaranteed during the press conference. They most likely simply placed it there today already to make it easier for them to update the site tomorrow.
Now we wait until it's confirmed.
(I did hope that no one had posted the recommended specs but was beaten to even that paltry contribution to the hype)
EDIT: Does anyone know what the colours mean in the source code? The release date and specs seem to be the majority of the green text as opposed to red or blue.
