Long thread, not sure if mentioned.

Anyways, cancelling a guarantee got me a truce lasting 8 years. Not exactly sure what the mechanism was, but basically I beat somebody up, took a bunch of provinces and got a decade long truce. So, to save those provinces for my own taking, I placed a guarantee on my target. When the truce was about one year away from ending, I dropped the guarantee as that used to give you a year long truce. However, in my case it seemed to "reset" the original truce to 8+ years so I ended up unable to attack my chosen target for nearly 20 years.

But didn't you get modifier to being able to vassalize (when you hover over red cross/green check)?

It's always showed a green check for offer vassal if they'd be willing at 190 relations, at least as long as I've been around/remember. You still needed to actually be at 190 to do it though.

For some reason, sometimes you can't demand annexation of a nation even when you have 100% warscore and have completely occupied them.

For example, I was playing Utrecht, allied with Burgundy, and I was at war with Gelre and Munster. I had occupied Gelre's only province, and Burgundy had occupied one of Munster's two provinces. At that point, I couldn't annex Gelre (though I could vassalize them). But then Burgundy peaced out, lifting their occupation of Munster's province, and then I could annex Gelre.

I think that spending 15 Diplo points / month for annexing a vassal is way too expensive furthermore if there is no other bonus added to it. Having vassals becomes a hidrance this way since it is very difficult to annex them and even more as the vassal is powerful.

I would much prefer losing 3 to 5 points of each / month as for the bonus a culture change on all the provinces would be good or at least have the choice to spend those extra points for this bonus.

Being able to force bigger countries to vassalize as our own grows would also be great and for balance the more powerful a vassal is the more it wants its independance.

I know all that would make the game more militaristic but I think it would also be more realist.

That's all well and good, but I don't think this is the right thread, especially since this change came before 1.7.

This is a good thread. We should document all of the changes here. What's the over-under on the number of undocumented changes? Once I know them if this thread hasn't fallen so far I've forgotten about it I might edit this post with a "patch 1.7 undocumented change log".

Maybe I'll throw in the ones where patch 1.7 is inaccurate too, especially if there are as many things as in 1.6.
This is a great idea. If you keep the lit up to date, people won't have to read through several pages to get the relevant information.

Yes, you always needed 190 relations to vassalize, but last patch you also got a +modifier to "Will they accept?" from opinion. 200 opinion gave an extra +25 to accept, if I recall correctly.

On topic, I don't think I've seen this before, declaring war on someone while claiming their province increases claim fabrication time, on a hunch I'd say by 100%.

HRE princes now run wild on change of state religion, making you loose 2-8 IA on each.

I dont recall it this way (lost 50 IA in a few weeks in this patch). Coupled with the "no IA for diplo religion change in HRE", the reformation now has a huge impact to the HRE (whereas I basically could ignore religion in HRE pre-patch 1.7).

PS: even worse you dont receive a heathen CB due to that.

In 1.6.x it was +50% (547 days). Actually if nothing has changed, then if you go to war your total claim time will change to new value, so it will be 547 days since beginning anyway (doesn't matter when during claim fabrication you declare).

Addendum: and previously converted princes flip back within weeks resulting in another IA hit. So the same prince giving you IA hits like every 6 months.

After force religion (and probably enforce unity), your ruler has to die, before you will be able to change religion again. So "every 6 months" is probably exaggeration.

Just checked that game...:
- Every 48 month since its a republic in case of one of that princes
- stroke of bad luck it seems on 2 others

Doing the math 44 princes: 13 republics every 48 months, others about 31 every 15 years aka 180 months. That makes 5-6 (5,317 exactly) flips a year total for an average of 4.5 IA resulting in 24 IA drain a year on average, whereas the first few years of reformation might be drastically increased.

Bottom line: reformation now blocks HRE reforms for app. 10+ years, with the emperor at a greater risk to not be elected due to massive opinion hits on low IA.

How could I forgot about republics...
Your're right, it seems that forcing religion is pretty much pointless now (unless OPM/has most provinces with right religion).

Cooldown upon mission cancel is now 1 year instead of 5. That's great!

It was already like that in 1.6
