Change Unit Names - Sometimes?

Why is it that I can olny change unit names, sometimes? In some games I can click on the name and get a blinking cursor and sometimes not. Sometimes it works for a while and then stops. Sometimes if I save and exit and reload, it works again, sometimes it does not.

Anyone else have this happen or know what to do?

Thats the only problem I am having, other than an occassional crash. (game always crashes a few days after couping USSR to Russia, BTW, at least with 1.2, I have not tried that one recently.

Game runs fine, but slows down after a few years with lots of nations/units in the 36GC, but I gather that happens to lots of people.

I teach computer science for a living, so I am fairly knowledgeable

Its strange why sometimes I can click on a name and get a cursor, and other times its like that isn't even a feature of the game . . .

If you do not think it is hardware related then go ahead and file a bug report.

I have 512mb of ram, Windows XP SP2, DirectX9+,

I am assuming you do have 1.3A installed and that the game was started under that version.
