Change religion - Venice

Hello,

at the moment I am playing with venice.
Most of my provinces are Orthodox but I am not able to change my religion form Katholic tro Orthodox.
What are the requirements to change the religion?
Is it possible to change only after a specific date?

Spawn some orthodox religious rebels and accept their demands. You may want them to siege down some of your provinces to get them converted first.

Sadly EU4 has very limited way of changing your country's religion. It means spawning rebels and accepting their demands while on >50% Orthordox land will change the religion.

Start converting one of your orthodox provinces but set missionary maintenance to 0. Eventually orthodox rebels will spawn - any province they occupy will convert to orthodox.

It sometimes takes some patience but once you have 51% of your provinces as orthodox you can accept the rebel demands and convert. Doing so before orthodox is a majority religion in your domain will NOT convert your religion.

I had to wait until orthodox rebels could cross the strait between the mainland and Venice itself (they kept being interrupted by third party fleets). Once they took Venice however with its high development I was able to switch.

thanks for your comments.
I tried something with the conole command.

I found an easier way.
At the moment I don't have enough Orthodox provinces.
I gave me with the console command 3 smal provinces.

And than I started a convertation.
Now I was able to accept the demands of the rebels.
If I have enough Orthodox provices the rebels demands are to convert Venice.
I only have to accept and venice is Orthodox.

So now I know what I have to do.
I have to capture some more Orthodox provinces and than I am able to convert Venice with the help of the rebels, but without destroying the whole country.

You got it.

However using rebels to convert your provinces rather than acquiring more provinces isn’t a bad idea. Yeah you get devastation but lose income, but you can also convert with near 100% religious unity. It isn’t without drawbacks, but definitely worth considering.
