Thanks for the great mod - I just had a great 2.2.1 game playing a duke of the Roman Empire, plotting my way to be emperor and then conquering my way through the Mediterranean. For a new take on this old-fashioned approach, I converted to the Cathar heresy after mending the Great Schism - women equality! - and educated my heir to be of Ashkenazi culture. In the long run conversion to Judaism would have been possible, but I didn't want to miss all the Roman events that rely on being Christian.
Although I did not forsee it, the religious conversion not only gave me the Holy War CB against all now Orthodox countries, but also made possible a complete exchange of the lords of the empire. Basically every ruling person down to baronies, cities and churches is now an Ashkenazi Cathar.
But although everyone from Spain to Syria has been Ashkenazi for hundreds of years, there is no cultural conversion taking place because of the event setup in PB_culture.txt - you need to control a neighbouring or a coastal province to get a change of culture, and there are no Ashkenazi ones in the game.
This may be a very rare case. But going with concept of cultural conversion of the game as well as the mod, it should be possible that one of your provinces, particularly your capital, would be able to convert to your cultur eventually without these conditions. The MTTH of such an event could and should certainly be pretty big.
Or have there already been discussions on this issue?
BTW: I am just thinking in terms of the present approach to culture of the base game. The possibility of cultural change and concepts of cultural homogenity in pre-modern times should be a different discussion - I am always at awe how quick the culture of provinces is changing in the game and how unrelated it seems to be to the actual political and social situation.
