I want change number of soldiers in the EU III and EU IV; e.g in inflanrty it will be 2000 men, cavalary 500, artillery 100-200 men.
How can I do this? I want to change it because this game is so realistic, but when i have army where i've go 20000 inflantry 5000 cavalary, and 8000 artillery I don't feel realism :(

REGIMENT_MANPOWER_COST = 1.0

This value is set in defines.txt (EU III) or defines.lua (EU IV), where the 1 stands for 1000 men.
There are no spezific values for infantry, cavalry or artillery.

Probably not, some things are hard coded, sadly :(

Well they also left out the cutting of supply lines, baggage trains, ruining of any given battlefield and the amount of damage a friendly army does to a province. The original game came out years ago so I'm not surprised bits haven't been replicated exactly.

How many troops were lost to fighting and how many to disease? How many cannon misfire? How much of the wartime economy is lost to graft? How many minor coups happen during war?

Anything that can be run on a simple home computer has to cut corners, these are some that were cut.

I realise that corners sometimes have to be cut and I know that I am probably not very up on how to develop a computer game, but I don't really understand why they should hardcode so many things. It would be so much better if they would leave people to decide for themselves what they want. The Civ series was much more moddable. In V2, military access is one example of something hard coded that I find really irritating!

Maybe the amount of Cavalrymen contain their pages (or a saved Princesses), thus making them actually 500 strong. Likewise, the artillerists contain many types of crew members to make up the force of 1000. It's maybe only some 20-30 cannons.

The hardcode is still editable, it is just harder to edit and legally questionable. That being said, editing armies into something remotely accurate would require a brand new game - standing armies were something of a rarity.
