yes, i have two OPM marches that i took in wars with the hre, and combined they supply 30 troops... out of 2 provinces, it's silly. :) so i'd definitely recommend putting any land you get that's outside of your 2 primary trade nodes into marches.

Attrition + Supply Chains:
The key to beating large armies (300k vs my 100) seems to rely on +fort defense and +attrition from defensive idea, prestige, and high forts... once everyone gets a bunch of war exaustion from attrition, the more distant enemies start retreating, and it's a lot easier. (the supply chain for denmark, portugal, and poland is so long that they don't reinforce automatically, so any losses they suffer are permanent).
