I would suggest fastest acquisition of all 7 age of discovery objs. Though I suspect this might end up a boring ottoman job. So you might want to ban that tag.

I would suggest looking at the different starting dates - I have an impression that most normally play 1444 start and there is probably something interesting to discover in the later starts.

- HRE Lake. Play as any nation in the HRE and hold 50 inland provinces. Subjects can't hold coastal provinces for you. I'm considering whether Austria should be allowed or not as I expect everyone to play Austria. Yet, the emperorship might make things random based.

Did you imply holding 50 inland provinces and no coastal provinces? In this case Austria would be automatically ineligible. I would require all 50 being the original HRE provinces. Otherwise one could just expand east (into Hungary/Poland/Lithuania etc) with Bohemia or Austria (if it's eligible)

Isn't this equivalent to getting HRE vassal swarm asap?

I hope the deadline of the current challenge is extended to 5th Sept. as a new record was set in 2nd. I am way too busy on the 4th and would need some time to finish my ternate attempt. I do not know if it would be record breaking but I do need the time.

oh darn. Well you can see that I rarely play in the HRE. Only thing I do with the HRE is to disband it.

The easiest way to form the HRE in the current patch would probably be play as France, become emperor, conquer ~100 provinces, eliminate then form England, form France again. With that you could probably do it by 1500, though it certainly wouldn't be easy.

I will share more screenshots of the situation and detail my strategy when the challenge ends or if someone posts a better record, but I would rather people attempt to make creative new strategies for a large improvement rather than simply make an incremental improvement to my own strategy to improve the record.

I doubt any creative strategy exists for this challenge. You basically need to get interest down to 0.25% and control trade via some combination of ownership, occupation, vassals and transfer power. With enough micro Moluccas-Malacca-Bengal-Ceylon line should be mostly yours.

I am now trying Madurai start to incorporate some extra gold mines into that strategy (I think it should improve on my 210K attempt by more than ~50K that I've projected for Ternate attempt, but not by a huge margin)

Another idea I had was to try to do it in Europe by revoking and asking everyone to divert the trade. I am not sure how well that would work since I have problems revoking before 1485 If creative idea exists for a fast revoke with OPM it might work for this challenge too.
