Chain on Command?

I am curious as to how exactly the leadership structure is going to work.

Will it be like a real army where:

Army commander-Corps commander-Division commander

So you would have a separate leader for each division that would be in a corps that would have a leader who is led by an army commander? Or are the terms 'Army, Corps, Division' really only terms to describe the size of stack of units commanded by a leader? There are thousands of leaders...but I get the feeling by what I am seeing of the game that it is abstracted like EU in this regard. I guess I am kind of an Wargame geek and like the idea of having a chain on command. Not having my divisions organized into corps which are organized into Armies just seems heretical to me !

It's like in EU. One stack has one leader.

YOu'll have to split up your stack in independant divisions to be able to give each division a seperate commander, meaning you'll have one div armies around.

Yeah I thought about that...but the advantages that would come with a chain of command would be nice. I remember those Battleground games where you had to keep your generals close to their superiors to keep the army running smoothy. Besides I presume you would want to organize your forces into Armies to ease strategic decisions and maximize the affect on one great commander.

What if its a really bad field marshall?

Is it worth it just to promote your highest ranking general to Field Marshall to get the bonus? Or will the resulting decrease in skill spell disaster if you go too far?

Lowered skill means less capable command, simple as that. But DRAMATIC is a little exagerated A leader who starts the game with skill 3 is a decent leader. Normal leaders have 1 or 2. Supers have 5 (only a few at start: von Manstein, Guderian, Rommel, Zhukov, ...)
