France was mainly converted to Tengri during the refomation. This allowed them to stay loyal to the true faith, and at the same time sync with prots/Catholics. or you can pick humanist.

You don't even need to take Humanist ideas as France.

-2 Base ToH
-1 From Catholic
+1 From Declaration of Indulgence
+2 Burger Privilege
+2 French Ideas
+1 Legitimacy

Means you have a net of +3 Tolerance of Heretics without Humanist ideas AND the Edict of Nantes. If you're having trouble with religion as France you're doing something wrong. You could skip both Religious and Humanist, while having your entire country be Protestant and you'd still be perfectly fine. The only feasible way I can see you having religious problems as France is if you're at 0 legitimacy and have taken both the Blasphemy Act and the Conventicle Act, in which case it's 100% your fault.

Hell your entire population could be bloody Mayan and you'd still be fine because you can also stack +3 Tolerance of Heathens as France equally as easily.

Ahem.

Oh, another of this threads. You know, with all the time you spend restarting as France or debating people here you could have already gotten all French relates achievements in the game.

Here, let me try to predict your next threads:

- Why are the devs biased towards GB navy? Where tou complain about GB's navy being unbeatable.
- Iberian nations colonizing is too OP and unrealistic; all because France can't compete with Portugal and Spain when it comes to fast colonization.
- French Religion Wars is the worst disaster in the game and should be changed.
- Russia is broken you can't win a war against them.

I bet once you progress 50-100 years into this game you will make at least one thread covering one of these aspects, if not more.

Honestly, mate, you can keep complaining like that all you do but nothing productive will come out of it. I told you before: download a perfect France game or move on.

I'd say close enough; if you think that having your entire nation convert is bad than wait until the War of Religion triggers -- it is brutal.

To your point, yes it sucks that the Center of Reformation spawned in your nation but at the same time crying to God that you have been wronged won't change things, will it? You've got plenty of good advice in this thread so now it is up to you if you want to keep on complaining about bad luck, reroll or learn how to play with the hand that you were dealt.

If you are dead set on being stubborn and cry foul play on the rng than don't expect much sympathy from the community -- there is only so much that people are willing to tolerate.

Humanism doesn't actually guarantee you'll stay over 75% religious unity it just makes the chances higher too. I've had saves in which the Reformation barely spread and others in which it took over the whole of Europe. Regardless of history it's the biggest pain in the ass you can think of and the fact it can spread in the most random places is a joke.

One time the entire Greek population was...Protestant.

Dude, I am at 150% religious unity, which is the max I can have with the modifiers from Tolerance in Humanist ideas and the Edict of Nantes. Half of my provinces are Reformed, Protestant, or Anglican (I am almost done eating up England).

I have no revolt risk, although I am converting my provinces anyway for the free prestige and papal influence points.

For the Greeks to have been Protestant, a Center would have had to spawn close to the Balkans (Hungary most likely) and have no other Catholic provinces to convert ( CoR will convert all Christian denominations to their denomination but they will always prioritize Catholic provinces firstif there are any within their range). So the chances for this to happen are astronomically small and it is much, much more likely that you will see the Iberians convert to Protestantism/Reformed before you see the balkans flip yellow.

quickpredictwhenthe1.3.1patchiscoming

It takes around 3 months for a new patch to come out after the summer holidays and considering that they have a new team working on the game, I'd say as early December, not later than 12th.

This is stupid. Paradox know nothing about player agency. Another stupid aspect of RNG. I don't want to play Protestant and I shouldn't have to.

I definitely would suggest taking a break.

It seems like you don't like your nations population doing things you don't want.

In EU4 there are many things that a people's nation could do outside your control.

In addition to protestantism there is the most damaging thing that could happen which is they could take up arms in full rebellion. The monthly tick is rng.

There could also be a sikh, reformed, anglican holy site/cor that spawns.

Any province could change religion randomly if you have humanist or religious.

A comet could fly over your country causing instability.

Your king could die and you could find that the people decided to have a ruler from another country rule over your country.

There are many many more pseudo random things that your people could decide to do that are outside player agency. If those things make you furious and not have fun then I would suggest taking a break. The purpose og a video game is to have fun and that's not fun.

Humanist ideas are a lot better with protestant or reformed than catholic, anyway. Catholic ideas are dependent upon papal influence generation, which is mostly built through converting.
